Lloyd Flanders
Since 1917, Lloyd Flanders has been producing the original “outdoor wicker” on the patented Lloyd Loom. The Lloyd “loomed” product has a horizontal weave that is structured with twisted cellulose strands dipped in glue to prevent unraveling and each vertical strand is reinforced with aluminum wire for extra strength and resilience. Following the weaving process, each frame is submerged in a resin emulsion and heated, forming a flexible coating which protects against moisture. The wicker is then contoured over a sturdy aluminum frame and painted with Lloyd’s special “Durium” finish providing a product that will last for many years. Ellenburgs recommends using the Lloyd loomed product in outdoor areas that have overhead coverings.
Lloyd Flanders offers two additional types of woven furniture for full weather exposure — Sun Loom Vinyl & Polyethylene. Lloyd Flanders SunLoom vinyl is constructed with 100% virgin vinyl on all aluminum framing. Each piece is also reinforced with nylon cording to create superior strength and durability. The Polyethylene product is a durable resin based product woven over a thick gauge aluminum frame. Both types have UV inhibitors added to prevent excessive fading.
